About Us

Wind&Bones Books is a publishing house with its roots in Scotland, but with a global vision. We publish books we care about, including fiction, translation, philosophy and curious hybrid works.

We are run by Wind&Bones CIC, a social enterprise registered in Scotland. At Wind&Bones, we're dedicated to exploring the points of intersection between writing, creativity and social change. We believe writing can and does change the world. Not once and for all, but in small ways and large, sometimes incrementally and at other times dramatically.

In our bookshop, you can order our handsome Wind&Bones Paperback Editions direct from us. We ship our paperbacks all over the world, or you can download our books in EPUB format.

You can also download our exquisitely-designed Wind&Bones Shorts in PDF and EPUB format. Our Wind&Bones Shorts include essays, curiosities, creative writing mini-courses, and fiction by writers we love—things too strange, too wayward, or too fine to find a home elsewhere.

Who We are

We are a tiny team, made up of Dr. Hannah Stevens, and Dr. Will Buckingham. This is us:

Hannah has a PhD in creative writing from the University of Leicester. Will's PhD is in philosophy, and he has a background in Fine Arts and Anthropology. Both Hannah and Will have published and run projects in writing and publishing internationally: from Bulgaria to Ireland, and from Myanmar/Burma to Taiwan.

About Our Books

We publish exclusively in print on demand (POD) and digital editions. All our books are beautifully designed and meticulously typeset. We want our books not just to contain beautiful things, but to be beautiful objects. We do most of our design and typesetting in-house, which allows us to lavish our books with the care that writers and readers should expect.

As a tiny publisher with a global vision, POD gives us the opportunity to publish and distribute globally, so we can get our books into the hands of those who will love them as much as we do. It also frees us from needing to worry about stock, warehousing, and the environmental costs of books going to waste. It is a technology that keeps us nimble, small-scale, and focussed on the things that matter most to us: beautiful books, designed with care, available wherever you are.

Our books are available to the public and to retailers through all the usual channels (and through our bookshop). If you want to stock our books, wherever you are in the world, and want to talk to us direct, you can contact us

Submissions?

We're not currently taking submissions. But if you want to talk about our books, or if you have ideas for any other interesting projects or fun collaborations, you can always shoot us a message.
